A Mighty Wager

A new movie starring Robert DeNiro (American movie icon playing a single father) and Dakota Fanning (creepy little girl playing his creepy little girl) opens in theaters this Friday.

Hide and Seek.

Andrew Wollman has bet me a whopping $5.00 (that's 500 cents!!!) that the little girl's malevolent imaginary "friend" named Charlie turns out to actually be ...Robert DeNiro!!!

They can't go that route. I refuse to accept it. I INSIST that this screenplay attempt to be more creative. I have decided to take that bet. I challenge Hollywood to give me a thriller that REALLY thrills. Make Charlie ANYTHING else. PLEASE! I want my five bucks AND my love of movies back.

Also--if Dakota's character "sees dead people," then all bets are off.

I've got $5.00 (that's 100 nickels) that says the imaginary "friend" named Charlie turns out to be Ray Liotta.

Personally, I think "Charlie" is Scott Baio.

I'm hoping, however, that the malevolent murdering "Charlie" is actually Charlie Bucket(gone mad from being locked up in that factory) and his conniving band of little minions, the Oompa-Loompas. That would be worth the price of admission and then some.

Actually, I saw an early release of the movie and I can assure you that hollywood has pushed the envelope this time. Contrary to what is indicated by the trailers "Hide and Seek" is actually a political statement on the recent echos of the 1960's conflict that we find prevelant in current US foreign policy. "Charlie" is actually a band of guerrilla viet-cong insurgents who threaten the innocence and god given right to adorableness with their anti-american bad and creepy-ness. There's a really ground breaking scene where Dakota Fanning gets completely drunk and fucked up on pills and ends up weeping in her underwear covered in her own blood and cradling her weapon impotently in a slump on the floor. . . I think I smell Oscar !

People often say that they smell Oscar. What does Oscar smell like? Do they mean smelly bad like Oscar the Grouch? Or smelly nauseating like Oscar Mayer products? Personally, I think Oscar is smelly old like Clint Eastwood. After all, Oscar certainly has a hard-on for Clint.

Speaking of which, I want Clint Eastwood to stop making movies. I don't want him dead. I just want him to stop making movies. If someone out there can make this happen, I'll be that someone's best friend... for at least a week.
