Like when you see a buddy-cop movie and they're shooting guns and killing people and joking in between.  That, I think, can deaden and pervert and twist you.  And actually, to me, the greatest perversion is the news, in the way they do title cards and theme songs for wars and crime stories that are produced to look like miniseries.  No one talks about that.  It's sick.
