I received my Pentax K1000 SLR camera body for Christmas in 1993, along with a Quantaray zoom lens. At the time the K1000 was exceedingly popular choice of the beginning photography student. Coincidentally, my best friend Joshua received the same camera, and we began shooting primarily black and white film. I didn't take a solid course in photo-journalism until the spring of 1999, during my final year of college. This course greatly improved both my camera and dark room skills.
