Power of the Press: brother Jeremy's job as a reporter for the local paper (now attempting to blogify afforded us two tickets to see Blue Oyster Cult (note awful Flash intro) at Plymouth Memorial Hall (note weak schedule packed with half-assed acts).
Memorial Hall: a large auditorium built in 1924, recently remodeled, that seats about 1,300 people. In high school it housed hardcore shows, the open mic poetry coffeehouses that my friends and I put together, and local high school graduations. Now it houses MOTHERFUCKING ROCK AND ROLL.
They rocked. Classically. The venue lights weren't very dim, and the vocals and guitar sounded a bit muffled. With More Cowbell t-shirts for sale and cheeky stage banter, ie: "There's something big coming this way... Could he be here, in PLYMOUTH, MASSA-CHUSETTS!" [Begin 20 minute version of Godzilla, complete with rather impressive 4 minute bass-solo intermission during which I really, really bobbed my head a lot.].
Lessons learned: 1) I really want to keep practicing drums. Time to cash in those Xmas gift drum lessons I was promised. 2) Middle-aged townies are not my demographic. And they don't move around very much. 3) Being able to laugh with my brother on a regular basis is a gift.

As time passes you build a new past and future for yourself at your new home, this familiar world, most thoughts and regularly accessed memories exploring your current geography, not the previous, the latest favorite music embedding itself into your daily routines, those routines into the landscape, the landscape's sounds and light cycles into your emotions. Such a nice day outside, like when I was young.

So, spring's in the motherfucking air, and I'm determined to make the most of it. As such do I hereby announce the formation of the Plymouth Fun Club. I'm thinking we meet in downtown Plymouth on Sunday evenings and as needed to properly appreciate good friends and good whether.
Outdoorsy activities to be undertaken this spring and summer shall include:
- Frisbee
- Catch Phrase (awesome electronic group word game)
- Croquet
- GeoCaching (we did a great hike around Halfway Pond yesterday)
- Picnics in the park
- Kayaking on Billington Sea
- Karaoke and drinking
We've also got some secret watersport projects. And with Joshua's new camper van, we should be prepared for a couple of camping trips. Suggestions for additional spring activities will be rewarded with alliterative admiration.

As a young man of privilege, I'm now enjoying me third vacation in the last 6 weeks. This ain't sustainable, but it's fun - this time around Joshua flew me down to Florida to pick up the 82' VW Westfalia camper that he bought from a guy. We've taking the long weekend to drive her back through the dirty dirty south.
Its got a diesel engine. The value of 30mpg can't be understated, but the fucking thing is SLOW. We were averaging 45mph through the Appalachians. Luckily, we're patient young men, and West Virginia is purty in the April sun.
Fantastic visiting Adam down in Charlotte. I had no idea how beautiful that city is. And growing fast - half of everything looked less that 5 years old. So many beautiful places to live that are actually affordable. [Thinks hard about where to live when married.] Suggestions?
